The India Cricket captain Virat Kohli on today clarifies that KL Rahul will play the 2nd Test match against Sri Lanka. He also confirmed that opener KL Rahul is all set to be part of the playing of XI in Colombo. Rahul not played in the first Test due to viral fever and he was hospitalized for a couple of days. The place was taken by Shikhar Dhawan, and beat a match-winning 190 in the first innings. That, during the pre match press-conference Kohli says that, if KL Rahul confirms in the final XI team, then either Dhawan or Abhinav Mukund will have to play in the 2nd Test and also Kohli added that the Rahul had played well in the practice session and looked really good. That, Rahul has been our best opener and I feel one of the openers Dhawan or Abhinav Mukund will have to make the way for him because what Rahul has done in the past two years for us has been very solid and he deserves to be come back and start a fresh in Test cricket again, Kohli said.
Kohli said that, “In the previous Test series against Australia, Rahul scored 393 runs with 6 half-centuries in four Tests. Even in the warm-up game in Colombo against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI, Rahul scored 59 runs.” Kohli is very confident that Rahul will come out stronger to play the next Test Match. In the 1st Test, Dhawan scored 190 runs off just 168 balls that won him the man-of-the-match award. Also, Kohli was quickly point out that, “both Mukund and Dhawan have backing from the team”. The Indian skipper expected that, “he wants a result-oriented wicket. Also he supported his batsmen to show more tranquility, once there is a partnership going, the team will win the match”.
