The Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu was on today completed oath as the 15th Vice-President of India. Recently elected President, Ramnath Kovind governed the oath of office to him, at a brief function in the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan attended by political leaders cutting across party lines. He had worn white panche and white shirt and took oath in Hindi in the name of God. He is now the 15th President of India, and he is the 13th person to hold the constitutional post. Previous Vice President Hamid Ansari and India’s 1st Vice President S.Radhakrishanan had held the post for two successive terms.
The PM, Modi, Mr. Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan, former PM Manmohan Singh, BJP veteran LK Advani, Leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad and other BJP Ministers, Governors and Chief Ministers attended the ceremony. SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, NCP’s Tariq Anwar, CPI leader D.Raja, TMC leaders Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Derek O’Brien and AIADMK leader and AIADMK’s O.Pannerselvam were also attended and seen the function. Delhi CM Aravind Kejriwal and Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar, who joined hands with BJP in his state, also attended the function at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Mr.Naidu’s wife M.Usha also present in this function.
After the ceremony, President Ram Nath Kovind, PM Modi, Mr.Ansari, Mr. Naidu, and Mr.Adwani were seen seated together. Mr.Naidu was born in an agricultural family in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, he served as BJP President, Union Minister and various posts for a long time at Rajya Sabha. He has a remarkable career in politics has been more than 4 decades in the making. He began his political life in the 1970s where BJP’s pioneer Jana Sangh was a marginal player with a little thump in the South India, and a young party worker kept himself busy putting posters of strong player with Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani.
