Hyderabad: The Former Indian cricket team captain Mohammed Azharuddin has approached the Hyderabad city police, alleging that some people had posted and broadcasted “infamous” messages against him at the instant messaging app. The Former Congress MP from Moradabad had contacted, Commissioner of Police Hyderabad City, M. Mahender Reddy last week, demanding action against those responsible for posting and broadcasting “abusive” messages against him. Azharuddin, who has played 99 Tests and 334 ODIs, is the captain of India in the three World Cups.
The Dy. Commissioner of Police, Task Force, B. Limba Reddy, however, said that no case has been registered in connection with the case, because the message on the app did not attract the provisions of the Information Technology Act. He said, if he wants, he Azharuddin can file defamation cases.
