Jalpaiguri: Another incident of lynching, two youths lynched in Jalpaiguri district, suspect of a cow thief on Sunday near Dhupuguri in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal had doubted two people as cow thieves. The victims were from Assam and West Bengal’s CoochBehar district. In a similar incident this June, three Muslim youths were trapped in Chopra, North Dinajpur.
police official in Jalpaiguri district said, “The dead bodies have been sent for post-mortem and we have started an investigation.”
According to police sources, this incident took place around 3 o’clock in Dadon 2 village, about 15 km from Dhupguri town.
The victims were traveling on a pickup van through the village in the night. There were seven cows in this Vehicle. The van lost its way in some way and circled this area. Warned by the noise of the van, the villagers tried to stop it but got out of the vehicle, Later the locals blocked the road and forced the van to stop. Two passengers were caught by the villagers while the drivers of Van were successful in running.
The villagers questioned both for some time and then they were caught on suspicion of being a cattle thief. The deceased Anwar Hussein of Patlahawa in CoochBehar and Hafijul Sheikh of Dhubri in Assam, Later the police recovered the body and took them to a local hospital. But they were declared brought dead.
