Jaipur: A curfew was imposed on Saturday in Ramganj area of Rajasthan, one day after the death of a policeman and 10 people were injured.
While collecting a crowd on the road, a policeman allegedly started violently after beating a woman, Other witnesses, however, said that “During a routine check, a policeman was injured after trying to stop a man on a motorbike. The police claimed that the man tried to escape and a police officer hit him.
In the protest, after hundreds of people gathered at a police station in the area, the situation became violent and started throwing stones at the police.
Police had been forced to use tear gas to spread the crowd due to violence, an electric house was set on fire, some vehicles included an ambulance. They also attacked journalists, the police said.
Police said that after the violent incidents, in the city, curfew was imposed in Manak Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Galta Gate and Ramganj police station till further orders, in which one police station was attacked and the vehicles were burnt.
