The Finance minister Arun Jaitley stated in a notification on September 11th that “Rs. 100 coins will be introduced to memorialize the occasion of Dr MG Ramachandran birth anniversary and also bring new Rs. 5 coins to mark the birth anniversary of the late AIADMK founder, The weight of the Rs. 100 coins will be 35 grams, The new Rs. 5 coins will be weighted 6 grams, denominations (Rs. 100 and Rs. 5) Shall also be coined at the create for issue under the authority of the Central Government.
The form of coin will be in the form of Rs 100 face with “Satyamev Jayate” in “Devanagari” with “Lion Capital of Ashoka Column”, along with the symbol of Rupee and Communal value “100”, in the reverse side The photograph of Dr. MG Ramachandran will be in the center, the Tamil Nadu government has advised the Center to issue a memorial coin and special postage stamp on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran.
