Odisha: The 230 Residential School students get sick After eating Mid-Day-Meal at school, the Officials said on Friday that a total of 230 students, including 150 girls, was becoming ill after eating food in different schools in Malkangiri and Kalhandi districts of Odisha, After eating food on Friday, about 150 girls from government schools became sick due to symptoms of food poisoning in Badapada in the remote Chitrakonda area of Malkangiri. The Project Administrator Ramkrishna Gond of Integrated Tribal Development Agency has said. That after complaining of vomiting, loose motion, nausea and stomach ache, affected girls of the residential school for tribal were immediately taken to the local hospital, later, they were shifted to the hospital in Chitrakonda for better medical treatment, Gond said, the investigation is ordered to ascertain the causes of the incident. Apart from Gond, Collector of Malkangiri district K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, visited the hospital to inquire about the condition of the girls, who were being provided proper medical treatment, the officials said.
The Officials said that, similar incidents were reported from Kalahandi district, where 80 students of five schools had become ill, after allegedly eating food (Mid-Day-Meal) on Thursday. The students of schools of Luma, Kubri, Bandhpuri, Ranjandarpur and Dangri villages under the Lanjigarh block complained of vomiting, nausea and stomach ache after allegedly eating Mid-Day-Meal. The affected students were taken to a government hospital in Bisanathpur and two of them were sent to Bhavnipatra Government Hospital. The Mid Day Meal has been prepared for 176 schools of Lanjigarh block and has been supplied by a trust. The cooked food was sent to different schools by vehicles. Further to monitor the situation, District Education Officer (DEO), Deputy Collector and Tehsildar visited Bisanathpur.
The DEO Pradeep Kumar Naik said that more than 80 students of five schools have been affected and provided treatment. Many of them have already been discharged from the hospital, the situation was in control and the affected students were recovering faster. The Kalahandi collector Anjan Kumar Manik said that the cause of the disease will be detected after the investigation.
