Hyderabad: The Bollywood film producer Karim Morani surrendered before Hayath Nagar police last night. As per the direction of Supreme Court, the apex court had upheld the High Court’s decision to cancel the anticipatory bail given to the film producer, who has accused of raping an ambitious actress.
After surrendering in Hayath Nagar police Hyderabad, Mr. Morani was formally arrested, a police officer said on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, M Venkateswara Rao said, “Morani surrendered before Hayath Nagar Police around midnight. After completing the legal formalities, he will be produced in court today.”
On September 5, the Hyderabad High Court had accepted the order of a lower court to invalidate the advance bail of Mr. Morani in the matter of concealing the facts facing the criminal case in the 2G scam case and it has been valid for several months. Were in jail.
It was alleged that Mr. Morani embarrassed a woman in Delhi and raped many times, taking nude photographs between July 2015 and January 2016.
The victim 25-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the Hayath Nagar police under the Rakkonda police commissioner in January this year.
After the complaint was lodged, the producer was booked under section 417 (punishment for fraud), 376 (rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage) and other relevant sections of the IPC.
The Sessions Court in Telangana had initially granted bail to Morani on January 30, but later it was canceled after saying that the producer had concealed his bail in the 2G case and had hidden it from the fact that He is in jail.
