Madurai, Tamilnadu: In a strange incident, young girls were made to play a part bare-chested as part of a ritual at the Yezhaikaatha Amman temple Madurai in Tamil Nadu. Supposedly the girls were dressed like jewels only to cover the upper body, and would spend many days in the temple to please the Goddess of the village. Mostly minor girls are between the ages of 10 and 14 years. In the presence of a large number of people, the priest selects seven girls, who will be offered in the service of the deity. The selected girls are made to stay naked chests for the next 15 days under the care of the priest in the temple. Meanwhile, the collector has instructed these communities to make sure that the girls should be fully covered.
