Hyderabad: The Wildlife Week is celebrated every year in India between October 1 and 7. The annual theme of the campaign is to promote the preservation of fauna and flora. Wildlife Week was conceptualized in 1952 with the overall goal of raising awareness to serve the long term goal of safeguarding the lives of wildlife through critical action. In addition, the Indian Government established an Indian Board for Wildlife which works to improve awareness towards the preservation of wildlife. Throughout Wildlife Week, experts conduct hands-on workshops bring, the more complex aspects of wildlife conservation within the reach and understanding of all age groups.
For the celebration of Wildlife Week 2017, The Telangana Forest Department would be conducting a Wildlife Photograph Competition and an Exhibition of selected photos at AranyaBhavan, Hyderabad on 7th October. Calling all wildlife photographers! We are looking for inspiring and original photographs to present and display during the Wildlife week celebrations on 7th Oct’17 at the office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana, AranyaBhavan, Hyderabad-500004. The photos should be taken in Telangana and preferably in the natural settings. There are over 5 categories or themes that contestants can send their entries for.
1. Wildlife in Telangana – General
2. Natural Landscape
3. Animal behavior and social life
4. Wildlife Conservation – In-situ and Ex-situ
5. People and wildlife including ecotourism in Protected Areas
Specifications
• All photos must be fully original, no entries will be accepted or considered if they are copied or downloaded from internet etc.
• Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, colour and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.
• Photo Size: A4 (8.27” x 11.69”)
• Paper Quality: Fine quality matte paper
• Resolution: High resolution
• Each candidate is allowed to send only two (2) photos for each category.
The best photos in the photo exhibition would be evaluated and rewarded with prizes and certificates to the winners (1st, 2nd& 3rd prizes).
