Mysore: As the country is immersed in celebrating Vijayadashami, which is commonly known as Dussera, in the princely state of Mysore, the Dasara is celebrated, as it is said that in the most extraordinary manner in the city. One of the 10 highlights of the 10-day celebrations is the beautifully enlightened Mysore Palace, which is decorated with 100,000 light bulbs and is lit from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on each day of the festival.
The Mysore Dasara is a royal festival celebrating the victory of truth over the Evil, a grand procession will be held for Dasara, which starts with the Mysore Palace and ends in Benimantamp. On the streets of Mysore city, the traditional Dasharan procession (locally known as Jambova Ride) is organized.
The Dasara Jumbo reached Benimantpa twice a day on the route of the procession from Mysore Palace. The main attraction of this procession is the idol of Goddess Chamundeswari, which is kept in a golden way above the decorated elephant.
In The Karnataka state, Dasharar is celebrated as the festival of the state- Nadababa, and King Wadiyar, which was inaugurated in 1610 AD.
The festival is celebrated by the royal family of Mysore; the Royal family performs special pooja on the occasion of Dasara festival.
