Lucknow: One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal, failed to get a place in Yogi Adityanath’s government tourism book. The Uttar Pradesh government released a booklet to mark six months Yogi Adityanath to become the UP Chief Minister. However, the UP administration removed the Taj Mahal from the book.
The list released by tourism minister Rita Bahuguna was mentioned in the important tourist destination including Gorakhpur Temple. It also includes plans for Ramayan’s visit to the central monuments and places. The Shakti Peeths (temples) get a place in the booklet along with the description of the Ramayana and Buddha circuits, the Deccan Herald reports.
In response, opposition leaders said that this move by the Uttar Pradesh Government proves that it is against Muslims. They have also alleged that the government ignores monuments related to a particular religion.
The State tourism department has said that the Taj Mahal has not been neglected and the manual is for press conferences only.
Speaking on this issue, Mr. Avinas Awasthi of UP Tourism Department said that several projects are already underway in the Taj Mahal, which includes the parking project, the Taj Agra Fort Linkage Project and others.
It may be mentioned that in the month of June this year, Yogi Adityanath said, “The Taj Mahal does not reflect Indian culture”. They also claimed that this is the reason why government gift copies of Gita and Ramayan instead of Historical Taj Mahal replica to foreign delegates.
