New Delhi: A member of the housekeeping staff allegedly raped a six-year-old girl in a school toilet of a private school in Malviya Nagar in south Delhi, police said on Thursday.
This incident was reported on Wednesday and the 22-year-old accused, a cleaning worker has been arrested, the police said.
The minor girl went to the toilet and asked for help but instead of a female employee, a male staff came and she was sexually harassed, the police said.
After reaching home, the victim girl told her parents about the incident and the parents informed the school and later informed the police.
A case was registered and the accused, a resident of Dakshinpuri in New Delhi, was arrested by the police.
Earlier, On September 8, seven-year-old Pradyaman Thakur was found in a pool of blood inside the toilets of Ryan International School in Gurgaon. He was allegedly killed by a bus conductor, who had also tried to sexually exploit a minor, the police had said.
In September, a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a peon in a private school premises in Shahdara, New Delhi. The accused was arrested on the same day.
Following the incident of Shahdara rape, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik had instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police of all the districts to ensure that there are adequate security measures in the schools in their area.
