Hyderabad: The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday has solved the long time pending police officers promotions issue. After having a marathon 4 hour discussion and several discussions with the police officials, legal officers, public representatives, the Chief Minister has decided to give promotions at one go to 275 officials as non cadre of SPs, ASPs, DSPs, With this every officer upto 1994 batch will get a promotion. The Chief Minister has signed on the file on the matter on Saturday evening.
The CM held a high level review meeting at Pragati Bhavan on Saturday, the Ministers MLA’s, Government representative and others participated in the Meeting.
Several persons have complained to the government that they were getting injustices in the police promotions. Some people went to the courts. Memoranda are given to Ministers to the Chief Minister. Under the united AP rule discrimination and confusion prevailed. The CM has taken a firm view to solve this problem in a transparent way. Against his backdrop he had held a review meeting on Saturday. He had also taken the opinion of the Advocate general and solved the problem.
The Chief Minister has taken to promote state wide promotion, the 39 CI’s as DSP’s, 103 DSP’s as ASP’s, 33 ASP’s as non cadre SP’s, upto the 1994 batch all the CIs waiting for the promotions are given the promotion. In the vacant posts following the promotions, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to fill up the vacancies or create supernumerary posts, if need be. The police officials discussed at length on the promotions.
“All those eligible should get promotions on time. But united AP this was not done. This led to injustices being meted out to some. Though the appointments were made zonal-wise, but the zonal ratio was not followed for the promotions. Correct the mistakes and injustices done in the past when promotions are given from Inspector to DSP. Correct the injustices and if need be create supernumerary posts. By doing this we can correct the injustices done to the inspectors from Warangal zone,” the CM said.
Meanwhile, People’s representatives from the fifth zone (Warangal) have thanked the Chief Minister for correcting the injustices being meted out to the police officers and for giving promotions to the eligible. The Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari, Ministers Etela Rajender, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Rajeshwar Reddy, Konda Murali, Ms Konda Surekha, venugopalachary, Puvvada Ajay Kumar were among those who thanked the Chief Minister.
