Bengaluru: At least six persons were killed and some persons are feared trapped due to a series of LPG cylinder blasts near Ejipura in Bengaluru today, the police said.
The Eyewitnesses said that the blast took place at 7 o’clock in the morning. They further said that the 20-year-old building was reduced to debris after the sound of the explosion was heard.
The personnel of the Fire Brigade and National Disaster Response Force, who reached the spot, took out the bodies including two women. Two dead have been identified as Kalawati (68) and Ravichandran (30).
The Police told that two children escaped from the rubble were out of danger.
The Bengaluru’s development minister KJ George has announced a compensation of Rs 5 Lakh for the deceased’s family and Rs 50,000 for the injured Person.
The minister also said that the government will adopt the girl (whose parents died) who was rescued and will take care for all its expenses.
The Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who visited this place, told the reporters that the building belonged to one Gunesh, the Gunesh had rented this building to four families, he said.
The two families lived in the ground floor, whereas on one on the first floor, Kalawati and Ravichandran were on the first floor, they died on the spot, while two children were injured, said the Minister.
The Bangalore Mayor R Sampat Raj said that four families are residing in the building.
At least 40 firefighters and NDRF personals were running rescue operations. During cleaning the debris to evacuate people stranded in the building, three firemen were injured as a wall fell; the police said that they were taken to a nearby hospital.
