Chandigarh: A 22-year-old singer from Haryana was shot while she was returning to Delhi from Panipat. The Harshita Dahiya was shot six times in her neck and forehead, she died on the spot, the police said.
After performing in a village in Haryana’s Panipat, the singers were returning to their home in Narela, Delhi. On the way, her car was overtake and stopped by the two accused persons in another car in Panipat, about 4 PM.
Senior police officer Desh Raj told reporters, “When she was returning, a car left behind his car near the Chamrara village and forced to stop.”
According to the police officer, after passing the car, two unknown persons asked the driver and two assistants of Harshita Dahiya come out of the car. Then they fired seven rounds while she was inside the car. Six bullets hit her in the head and neck, killed her on the spot. The Two attackers immediately fled from the scene of crime.
The deceased Harshita Dahiya recently posted a mobile video on the social media, in which she alleged that she was getting threats of death, but she said that she was not afraid. It is not known that he had alerted the police about the danger of his life.
A murder case has been registered and investigation is in progress, the senior police officer said.
The Harshita was known as an artist who sang songs of Hariyanvi ‘Ragini’ and was also a dancer. The Harshita Dahiya’s body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem in Panipat.
