Bengaluru: Abdul Karim Telgi, also known as Kareem Lala, who flew the economy of many states as head of multi- crore fake stamp paper racket, died in Victoria Hospital on Thursday evening.
The Telgi was nauseous and was vomited before going unconscious on Sunday, after which he was taken to the hospital, that, earlier there were reports that he was suffering from AIDS. The Telgi, who was facing the failure of several organs on Monday evening, was in coma since then and passed away on Thursday.
The Telgi is suffering from diabetes and hypertension for more than 20 years, there are other diseases besides this.
That, in the year 2001 Telgi was arrested in connection with a multi Crore fake stamp paper racket and he was sentenced to 30 years in prison and also imposed a fine of Rs. 202 crore on him.
Some cases against him are still pending. Telgi was lodged in the Central Jail in Parapana Agrahara in Bengaluru and he is hailing from Khanapur in Belagavi 56-year-old Telgi is facing cases of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Goa and other states.
Recently, Telgi was fat in disputes when former DIG (Prisons) D Roopa had alleged that jail officials were giving him privileged treatment in jail.
