The Opposition announced on Tuesday that they will observe the first anniversary of demonetisation on November 8 as ‘Black Day’ and will protest across the country to highlight their “bad influence” on the economy.
Deciding in a joint press conference of the opposition Coordination Committee, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “This special announcement made on November 8 has caused a scandal in the century, which is why we call it Black Day. He described the NDA government’s decision to Note ban as “the worst guess and hasty decision”.
The Azad, flank by Sharad Yadav of the breakaway faction of the JD-U and TMC leader Derek O’Brien said, “Each political party will try to give it a regional name to see it as’ Black Day ‘and will protest and process.’ The Derek O’Brien, MP, TMC said that his party will observe the day as ‘Kalo Dibas’ which is ‘black day’ in Bengali.
On being asked why the opposition was not planning a joint and a united protest on the day, Azad said that the opposition has been forced to call it as ‘Black Day’ on 8th November and the parties Has been united on the issue.
Since the opposition parties from all parties, including regional people cannot be in Delhi, therefore the Coordination Committee has decided to oppose the opposition of various states in every state. Our objective is to show our unity,” he said.
