New Delhi: The Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he has destroyed the country’s economy with two “torpedoes” – Note ban and GST. The Narendra Modi has failed to understand the pain of the people, Gandhi said.
Significantly, why did the government celebrate the first anniversary of the Note ban on November 8, Gandhi said, “I do not know what to celebrate.”
The Gandhi said, while the economy was able to face the “torpedo” of the Note ban, it cannot face one of GST. The economy, he said, “was now in Tatters”
He said, “The Prime Minister is not able to understand the sentiments of the people, misery and sorrow and due to both these decisions have caused, after holding two meetings of top Congress leaders on the demonetization and GST.
The Congress leader said that GST is a ‘good idea’ which has been “destroyed” by the Modi government.
While the first meeting was discussed with other opposition parties on the party’s plans, it was seen as ‘black day’ on 8th November, the second GST implementation was discussed. The second meeting included former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
