New Delhi: After a long-discussed discussion, the Ministry of Civil Aviation unveiled the draft norms for operating drones for civilian purposes in the country on Wednesday.
According to the final draft rules prepared by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the unmanned Aerial System (UAS), which is commonly known as the drone, will require a unique identification number. The Nano drones, those who weigh less than 250 grams will be exempt from getting approval once, including issuing unique identification numbers.
The Civil Aviation Secretary RN Chaube told reporters here, “We are making the rules very user friendly,” he said, that the draft norms have been prepared internally after extensive consultation. That, after stakeholder consultation, final and formal civil aviation requirements (CAR) for the drones is likely to be by the end of December, he said.
The Various restrictions have been proposed to ensure that the drone is used only for legitimate purposes; There will be no ‘drone zone’ which is 50 kilometers away from the international border.
The Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju hoped that the draft norms would be encouraged and “discouraging nefarious activities”.
At present, the use of drones in aircraft rules does not include their sales and purchases. Aviation regulator DGCA banned the use of drones and unmanned aircraft systems by civilians in October 2014.
