New Delhi: The Centre is going drops 4,500 cases, Taking the suggestion of special representative of the Center Dineshwar Sharma, for the first time, more than 4,500 cases against the youth involved in stone pelting will be dropped to win the heart in the Kashmir Valley, officials said.
Earlier this month, Sharma, who visited the valley, was flooded with requests from various persons and groups to withdraw cases against the youth against whom the police was booked for indulging stone in the pelting. He said that in July last year, 11,500 cases were registered against stone Pelters, when there was unrest in Kashmir after the death of Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani. Out of these, more than 4,500 cases were registered, which were included in the first stone pelting.
On being contacted, Sharma refused to comment, but said “My effort was to transform the story into peace in the state and for this I need the support of youth and students.” After seeing the reaction of the move, PDP-BJP in the state was keen to review the remaining cases against stone Pelters in consultation with the state government, officials said.

The Center can also consider local people for rehabilitation, who have joined the terrorist groups but have not been involved in any major crime. The Sharma found residents in the Valley facing the problem of lack of power in the valley, especially in winter and therefore, an additional 300 MW would be made available in Kashmir this year.
Officials said efforts are being made to ensure supply of 24 rounds of electricity from the beginning of winter in the next year. There is a dialogue with the power ministry to implement this project.
The central government will also increase the compensation for the policemen killed during the encounter. At present, a local policeman gets 40 lakh rupees.
That, the conclusion was considered to be part of discussions held by Sharma during his visit to talk with all stakeholders.
All these issues had recently been discussed in the core group of Kashmir under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, and Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval participated.
According to the suggestions of the Central Government, the State Government’s initiative is expected.
