Mumbai: The Three persons were killed and 9 others injured after a four-storey building collapse in Bhiwandi area on Friday, which was an illegal structure.
This incident occurred around 8:30 AM when most of the families living in the building were sleeping. The Residents were alerted by noise and the building was evacuated. That, More than 10 people were trapped in the debris and later they were rescued by two teams of the National Disaster Response Force in the evening and they were rushed to the Indira Gandhi Smruti Hospital.
According to the rescue team, due to the lack of space, they were severely disabled in their operation. The collapsed building was located between the two structures in a very congested format.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Deputy Commandant Mahesh Nalawade said, “It took time as there was no place for us. It is very crowded, so we cannot bring our machines to remove the debris.”
It was found that nearby structures are also in a poor condition. The Residents state that the (Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation) will come to demolish the slums, but will not look into illegal structures in this area.
