I am very happy to personally welcome you to our State of Telangana and to the historic city of Hyderabad. We feel very proud to be hosting one of the most prestigious Global events. Hyderabad, a most happening city with vibrant economic activity, is recognized all over the world as a welcoming and most hospitable destination. I am sure that you will experience this Hyderabadi character during your stay here.
The Telangana is the newest and the youngest State of our country. Under our Industrial Promotion Policy, which is called TS-iPASS, it is now mandatory by law that all approvals have to be given within 15 days. The unique feature of this Policy is that in case the approval does not come in 15 days, it is deemed to be given.
I would like to inform that this policy has actually worked quite admirably on the ground. In the last three years, we have given approvals to 5469 industrial units with a total investment of $17.5 billion dollars and created over four hundred thousand jobs. All this achievement has happened without the investors requiring to run from pillar to post.
Telangana has been ranked as the No. 1 state in the country in Ease of Doing Business Rankings, brought out by the Government of India and the World Bank jointly.
Telangana has now become a favoured destination for both international and domestic investors and you will be pleased to know that Hyderabad has the second largest presence of five most-valuable companies in the world outside their own headquarters in the USA. These include Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon.
We are also encouraging young entrepreneurs and I am happy to mention that Hyderabad hosts India’s largest technology incubator called T-Hub. We have a vibrant startup ecosystem in which the Government has played a catalytic role in bringing together the best academic institutions and the corporate sector to nourish and support the brilliant young minds. T-Hub is now recognized as a role model, by the National Institution for Transforming India, popularly known as NITI Aayog.
I am delighted that we have got such an important platform to showcase our investor friendly environment. At the same time, we are also keen to learn from the innovative work being done by others all over the world.
I trust that the deliberations over the next two days at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit will enrich us with new ideas and plans.
I once again welcome all of you to our state of Telangana and hope that you would enjoy the legendary hospitality of Hyderabad and relish its signature dish Hyderabadi Biryani.
