Jaipur: The Police killed a Muslim youth in Alwar district of Rajasthan, in a late-night encounter with police, the latest incident of violence in the region over claims of cattle smuggling.
The police claimed that a 22-year-old Talim Khan, who was a cow smuggler, was killed in counter-shootout in the early hours on Thursday. The police are hunting for their five companions who are believed to have been injured, but they managed to escape in the narrow streets of the colony after the fall of their vehicle’s tire.
The deceased Talim Khan’s family and the Meo community have refused to acknowledge their body. They alleged that the police was avoiding the post mortem. We were told that a medical board would be formed but it would not be so. Then we were told that the post mortem will be done on Friday. We are not accepting the body without the post mortem,” said Meo leader Sher Mohammed.
However, there is no possibility of a post-mortem till Saturday as government doctors in the state are on a mass leave on Friday.
The Talim Khan’s bullet-riddled body was found inside a mini-truck cabin, which contained a pistol and two cartridges. The Police recovered five cows, include a dead one, from the truck.
The Superintendent of Police Rahul Prakash claimed that the police fired in retaliatory firing. They used to fire on the police frequently and when loading a cow in a vehicle, after seeing a mobile patrol party broke the three barriers while fleeing. When they came down the black mover flyover, the NEB police station team shot the truck on. Two bullets broke the windshield and killed Khan, who was sitting near the driver’s seat. He Said
According to him, due to iron nails, the tire of his vehicle was flat, yet the driver managed to drive about a kilo kilometer, where he left the vehicle in the middle of the area and escaped from the spot.
The Director General of Police, O.P Galhotra has said that the investigation of the encounter has been initiated with the guidelines set by the Supreme Court, National Human Rights Commission and the government.
