New Delhi: A 27-year-old man was robbed and killed by two persons, who later threw his body in the forest area of South Delhi Mahipalpur. The police said on Saturday.
The body of the deceased Sunil Kumar Bhatt, a resident of Uttarakhand who lives with his wife in the Gandhi Nagar area of Gurgaon, was found in the forest area of neighboring Delhi’s Mahipalpur.
The Mr. Bhatt was left of the function at 7 pm on Thursday for his brother’s place in Haridwar. He boarded a private taxi after the driver and the person, who became vocal about the passenger, lured him saying that he is going to Haridwar.
The Bhatt’s wife Deepa told the police, “When my husband call and inform me that he had boarded into a taxi, the phone was disconnected suddenly and again, his number was switched off, After suspecting something went wrong, she contacted Gurgaon police, but did not take quick action and filed a missing complaint only.”
The Delhi Police on Friday told about the recovery of the dead body, which was later identified as Bhatt in the forest area of Mahipalpur area. A case of murder was registered against unknown people at Delhi Cantt police station, Police said.
During the investigation, it was found that the accused person hit Bhatt with a heavy object on the head. They robbed his valuable goods, ATM card and strangled him with the muffler and slit his throat before dumping his body, Kumar said.
The accused also withdrew money from Bhatt’s ATM card several times and made a purchase using it on Friday morning, the official said.
A joint investigation is being conducted by the Delhi Police and the Gurgaon Police. The main roads are being scanned of ATM’s CCTV footage and for identifying the accused, he said.
Earlier this month, a woman had taken a shared taxi from Shankar Chowk to Hero Honda Chowk, three persons molested and tried to rape. Later they were thrown her out of the moving taxi at Rajeev Chowk.
