Ahmedabad / Shimla: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fought off a resurgent Congress on Monday, so that it can catch Gujarat easily for the sixth phase but got the easy victory in Himachal Pradesh.
The BJP’s victory margin in Gujarat was very low 99 seats from 115 last times, as the Congress enthusiastically performed with reservation-centric support from the traditional BJP voters, Patidars and OBCs. The grand old party has its score to 80, 19 ups from 2012 in the assembly of 182 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party won a victory, the Bhartiya tribal party won two and two independents.
Analysts believe that the Congress had just missed stopped the power in Gujarat this time, which is not possible due to the lack of anti-rivalry, the absence of the Patidar and other backward castes, the lack of development among the farmers and other things found to be. The BJP suffered heavy losses in Saurasthra, where both farmers and Patel have high density. The Congress took significant advantage here but could not win due to the lack of local reliable face.
A tight BJP breathed a tight war, which inspired Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rope in the last phase of the campaign. He addressed 41 rallies, which is the highest in the state. Modi made a bitterer and competitive campaign about the glory of Gujarat compared to the development.
The Congress did not even get the support of the entire Patel community, of which the leadership of the youth was delighted by Patel. There was a division in the Patel vote, which was traditionally anti-Congress, but moving towards the Congress was not enough to tip the scales. Old Patel was disappointed, but did not give up Modi.
Interestingly, the BJP has lost the Unjha assembly constituency in Mehsana district – which includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hometown, Vadnagar – to the Congress. Asha Patel defeated BJP’s candidate and sitting MLA Narayan Patel in Ujjah with a difference of over 19 thousand votes.
Although Gujarat did not go through the Congress, one thing is clear – party president Rahul Gandhi has emerged a political leader. They staged a caste based coalition together, visited only the temples in Gujarat, tried to restore the support of the party’s Muslim outsider asylum, and pumped up the political statement of the fight against Modi. Rahul visited 23 temples and his party won all those constituencies.
The Himachel Pradesh (HP) which has discrimination between the BJP and the Congress for decades, the BJP secured a two-third majority by winning 44 seats in the 68-constituency assembly. The total number of Congress is about 21. The Communist Party of India won 1 while Independent won the other two.
But the question is who will lead the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Kumar Dhumal lose his seat.
After the start, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and his deputy Nitin Patel dominated the opponents of the Congress.
Leading OBC leader Alpesh Thakor, who is now with the Congress, and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani also won. The Top Gujarat Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil lost
