Bengaluru: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said Tuesday that she was upset to know that two brothers had not been attacked in Bengaluru for not speaking in Kannada. She demanded strict action against those involved in the incident.
She wrote on Twitter ” Very disturbed by the news of two brothers from Kashmir being assaulted in Bengaluru. I requested the authorities to take strict action against the accused.
That, a group of at least 10 people allegedly beats up 24-year-old hotel management student and his brother from Kashmir and damaged their car because they could not speak Kannada.
Based on the footage of the CCTV installed near the site, the Bangalore Police has arrested two persons and has launched a manhunt for others.
The brothers were allegedly targeted when they were returning home in the car after a night meal in Bhoopasandra around midnight on Monday. They had stopped their car near the bus stand in NTI layout in Sanjay Nagar to attend a phone call.
The brothers told the police that four persons stopped their car on two bikes and asked them something in Kannada. They told the persons that they were from North India and could not understand anything. Bikers then allegedly told the brothers that they would be allowed to leave the site only after spoke in Kannada.
The Accused persons called some others on the spot and together they allegedly pelted the stones on the brothers and their car. The alleged assailants fled the scene when the two called the police control room to report the crime.
