Ahmedabad: The Civil Court of Mirzapur, Ahmedabad lifted the interim order imposed on “The wire” on its report against illegal business activities of BJP President son Jai Shah.
That, On October 8, The Wire had a report against Jai Shah, stating that “after becoming Narendra Modi as a Prime Minister, some of his businesses have increased dramatically.”
The court originally granted Ex-party injunction to Jai Shah, barring The Wire website from using, broadcasting, printing and publishing in any electronic, print, digital or any other media, in any manner by way of interview, holding TV talks, debate and debates, news items, programs in any language on the basis of the article published in ‘THE WIRE Website (dated 8/10/2010), either directly or indirectly on the subject matter with respect to the plaintiff in any manner whatsoever.
However, according to the court’s decision on December 23, the injunction is now limited to the “Narendra Modi becoming Prime Minister/elected as Prime Minister,” line. It also means that the news website can now report and write to any and every aspect of public activities including Jay Shah’s business and original stories.
The Media house had already challenged the injunction order saying that it was a violation of the freedom of the press. They also claimed that the original article in ‘Jay Amit Shah’s The Golden Touch of Jay Amit Shah’ was not derogatory in nature and it was entirely based on public records and information provided by the Jay Shah himself.
