Patna: RJD chief Lalu Yadav and his family suffered a major setback, the Special CBI court on Saturday found him and 15 other accused found guilty in the fodder scam case.
That, on the other hand, six other accused, including former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, faced similar charges.
Mr. Yadav was arrested immediately after been convicted by the CBI court and he was sent to Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi. In this case, the quantity of punishment will be fixed on 3rd January.
As per the sources the acquittal of the Jagannath Mishra and six other people had a shock to Lalu Yadav, who had hoped for 2G like a verdict in their favor.
After the verdict Lalu Yadav will move the high court against the order of the CBI court which has been convicted in the fodder scam case.
The RJD Senior Leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh told reporters after the verdict, this is not the final verdict. Lalu Yadav has been convicted in two cases so far, while four more cases are pending against him.
This matter relates to the fraud of more than Rs 84.5 Lakh from the Deoghar treasury when it was Chief Minister of Bihar between 1991 and 1994. The fodder scam case came up in 1996 and the Charge sheet against 38 people was filed by the CBI. October 27, 1997.
