Hyderabad: The Jamia Nizamia issued Fatwa, which states that Muslim Should not eats Prawns. The fatwa was issued by the Chief Mufti of Jamia Nizamia, Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed.
However, many Muslims clerics expressed satisfaction with this fatwa. As per the fatwa, prawns do not belong to the category of fish and it is an arthropod. Mufti Khaleel Ahmed says that the prawns come under the category ‘Makruh Tahrim’.
It may be mentioned that in Islamic, there are three food categories and which are Halal (Permissible), Haram (Forbidden) and Makruh (Abominable). Further, Makruh is divided into Makruh and Makruh Tahrim.
The Jamia Nizamia reportedly issuing a ‘fatwa’ or decree that consuming prawn was not allowed in Islam, Dated 1st January, the fatwa was issued on January 1 by chief mufti Mufti Mohammad Azeemuddin the 142-year-old Islamic seminary. The Moulan Hafez Abdul Baari, an official from the Jamia Nizamia confirmed the same.
