Hyderabad: The State of Environment Report (SoER), Telangana State-2015 released by Jogu Ramanna garu, Hon’ble Forest & Environment, Backward Classes Welfare Minister and Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of State (Environment Forest & Climate Change on 6th January, 2018.
The report has been prepared by Environment, Protection, Training & Research Institute (EPTRI), an empanelled member in the preparation of SoE reports and it has prepared SoE Report for combined State Andhra Pradesh in 1999, 2003 & 2009.
The MoEFCC has entrusted EPTRI to prepare the SoE Report for Telangana State (TS) – 2015. SoER –TS, 2015 is the first report for the State of Telangana. The objective of the report is to ensure sustainable development by providing credible environmental information to policy makers, organisationas and the general public for proper planning and implementation of developmental projects. DPSIR (Drivers, Pressures, State, Impact & Response) methodology has been adopted in the preparation of the report.
A Steering Committee with the Principal Secretaries of various departments of the Government of Telangana under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary was constituted to give guidance in the preparation of the report.
The SoE Report for Telangana – 2015 covers the erstwhile 10 districts of Telangana viz., Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam. The report covers chapters on Telangana Profile, Natural Resources and Environment, Forests, Biodiversity, Water Resources and Irrigation, Agriculture and Allied Sectors, Energy, Mining, Industrial Development, Transport, Tourism, Urban Development, Rural Development, Environment and Health, Environment Pollution, Waste Management, Environmental Acts & Laws, Climate and MDGs & SDGs. The report will be made available in the EPTRI’S website for further reference (www.eptri.com).
