Hyderabad: The Governor Tells SPIC-MACAY Members for Explore Rural Talent in Telangana, While Speaking at the first meeting of the Advisory Board of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and Chairman of the Advisory Board, said that the Society has been rendering yeoman service for the spread of Indian culture and classical art forms amongst the youth of the country. While appreciating the proposal of the Society to organise ‘Arambh’, a programme to introduce craft, drawing, painting, dance and music to children in the age group of 2 to 4 years in one school in each of the 31 districts of Telangana, the Governor told the members that on his part he would request the District Collectors to extend all necessary cooperation and logistic support to the Society. The Governor informed the members to see to it that the Teachers are also actively involved in these programmes.
The Governor also said that there is huge untapped cultural talent available in the rural areas of Telangana and the Society should explore the hidden talent, encourage them and make them partners in the cultural programmes organised by the Society. Governor also suggested to the Society to rope in JNTU School of Fine Arts and utilise their expertise in organising the cultural events. Governor further said that the Society should bring out a calendar of events and Universities and Colleges celebrating cultural festivals should make it a point to include Indian cultural art forms and classical dance and music, a part of their events.
Earlier, Dr. Kiran Seth, Founder of SPIC MACAY explained about the activities and programmes of the society, which is a volunteer driven and non-profit organisation spreading the Indian classical music and culture amongst the youth of the country for the past 40 years.
