Kabul: At least four gunmen attacked Kabul’s landmark InterContinental Hotel on Saturday and started shooting guests, officials said, in an attack that is still going on.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the latest attack in the capital of Afghanistan, which has emerged in recent days after several security warnings.
A guest hidden in a room told AFP that he could hear gunfire inside the hotel. He said, “I do not know that the attackers are inside the hotel but I can hear the bullets from somewhere near the first floor” without giving his name, “We are hiding in our room. I will beg the security forces to rescue us as soon as possible, before they reach us and kill us.” The AFP tried to contact him again, but his phone is switched off.
