Chennai: The students of the college continued their protest on the fifth day against the recent increase in bus fares and demanded an urgent withdrawal of the amendment In Tamil Nadu. The Actor Kamal Hassan, who has announced his post in politics, also pressed the government on this issue.
The Students protested in Madurai, Thanjavur, Perambalur and Dindigul, many of whom boycotted the classes opposing governmental steps, the police said.

The Hassan, who has ruled the AIADMK against alleged corruption, has also stressed the government led by Palaniswamy for the increase in bus fares. In a tweet, he said that if the government was against the pro-poor, it would have made all efforts to stop the hike.
After six years interval, the state government increased the ticket fare of buses operated by public transport corporations and private institutions on January 19, about 20 to 54.54 percent. The government has increased fares in categories like Mofussil, City, General, Volvo, Express, Ultra Deluxe and Air Conditioned Buses.
