The Mulugu Forest College and research institute organized an interactive session with the B.Sc. Forestry students of 2nd and 4th semester with senior’s officers in the Government and incidentally 3 hour long interactive session included 6 speakers all are B.Sc. Forestry graduates. Mr. Karnan IAS district collector Macheriyal, Priyana Vargheese IFS OSD to CM, Shafiullah IFS MD Minorities finance corporation, Arthanari IFS DCF Sambalpur Odissha, Ramesh IFS Additional Director TSFA, Dr. G. Chandrashekar Reddy IFS, APCCF Hyderabad and Dean FCRI Mulugu
The first five are B.Sc. Forestry Graduates from FCRI Mettupaliyam and Dr. Reddy is a graduate in Forestry from college in Kamareddy of Osmania University. Mr. Karnan is the first forestry graduate to make in to IAS and Dr. Reddy is the first forestry graduate to make in to IFS in 1991. This is a very special and rare occasion where the forest graduate fraternity came together to motivate the students studying the forestry course.
While sharing his success story, Shafiullah told that parent’s dreams are part of our life but setting a goal based on personal choice is very important then only one can sustain the efforts towards achieving the goal. He emphasized that there is no alternative to hard work in acquiring knowledge and Skills. Arhtanari spoke about the Ethics and passion in life and its importance. The Ramesh told the students to give 100% and don’t leave scope for any gap.
The Karnan IAS who was a chief guest at the evening session shared aspects of his life at FCRI Mettupaliyam campus and guided students on preparing for the IFS examination. He said B.Sc. Forestry course at Mettupaliyam is most sought after course. Forestry as such a multidisciplinary course where one can learn even Survey, Engineering and Geology etc. sharing his life in campus he said it was the synergy of seniors and juniors in the campus led to success in the IFS exam year after year, as it provided good ecosystem for preparing for the exams for students. He said it was a forestry graduate’s fraternity bond which pulled all of us to this dais and address you on this occasion. He also emphasized on the extracurricular activities as it provides forum for expression, team work, improving communications. Advised all students to read general books and developing a habit of reading news paper for at least 20 minutes a day. One should know what to read and what not to read. He suggested students to take on debate, group discussion competitions, mock tests, Essay and Quiz competitions on regular basis as it adds lot of value to the preparation Deputy Director FCRI K. Srinivas requested the guests to open the houses for competitions which included Teak wood house, Rose wood house, Sandal wood house and Bamboo House.
The 3 hours session included lot of thought provoking questions from preparation of civil services examination to counseling parents not to pressurize them for early marriages. The discussion also included starting of 4 year B. Sc. Environmental Science course and Initiating MBA program in Forest Management and autonomous status to the institute and creating scope for jobs in department as well. Addressing certain issues raised by students the dean informed that 2018 batch admissions shall be based on EAMCET ranks. He also informed that about 20 organizations related to forestry field are ready to take the B.Sc.Forestry graduates for internship for one month after 2nd year and for 3 month after 3rd year studies. Dr. Reddy introduced the faculty members to the guests and thanked Priyanka for making this event happen for the students.
