Thane: The protest march by the agitated farmers and tribal’s has entered the capital city in protest of the failure of the BJP-led government to deal with the agrarian distress. The March, led by All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), was started from Nashik in front of a farmer of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
A massive march of more than 30,000 farmers has been led to KJ Somaiya ground in Central Mumbai. The Farmers will protest outside the assembly on March 12 in Mumbai.
The Security has been tightened and the police have issued a traffic advisor on busy Monday. All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) demanding immediate implementation of the recommendations of the full loan (debt) waiver and the MS Swaminathan Committee, which ensures proper remuneration, are the main demand of AIKS.
The Agitators are demanding compensation for farmers’ greenery and pink worm for the destruction of crops, Rs 40,000 per acre and for the implementation of forest land allotment and Forest Rights Act under the cultivation of farmers. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party led by Raj Thackeray, has also offered to support the left-wing farmers’ organization.
