Gorakhpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost two major parliamentary seats in Uttar Pradesh, Gorakhpur and Phulpur on Wednesday, after the entry into the Assembly in April, 2017, which was vacated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his vice-Keshav Prasad Maurya. The BJP lost its seat, since 1998, the BJP ruled by Yogi Adityanath got its ‘safest’ and the most prestigious Gorakhpur seat.
The Phulpur was won by Keshav Prasad Maurya in 2014, under which BJP went to the polls in the previous Lok Sabha. They won it in 2014 with more than three lakh votes.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) covered the difference in these elections to maintain the united front in these two seats. Although the talk of a formal coalition is still in the air, the BSP successfully supported him with the support of SP candidates in Gorakhpur and Phulpur. The Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel of Samajwadi Party won by Lok Sabha seat, Phulpur by 59,613 votes and The Praveen Kumar Nishad won from Gorakhpur defeated BJP’s Upendra Dutt Shukla with 21,881 votes.
After unexpected defeat seats organized by two top administrators in the state – Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “We accept people’s decisions, this result is unpredictable, and we will review our shortcomings. I congratulate Winning candidate. “
The third Lok Sabha seat, which came in the election, was Araria in Bihar, which was maintained by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal. Sarfaraz Alam of RJD won the Araria Lok Sabha seat with 61,988 votes. Alam got 5, 09,334 votes while BJP candidate got 4, 47,346 votes.
