The state Government has decided to name Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme, meant for supplying drinking and water for irrigation in the fluoride, famine affected areas, in honour of Irrigation Expert Late R Vidyasagar Rao. Honourable Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has signed on the file pertaining to the decision. The government has taken decision in memory of Late Vidyasagar Rao whose first death anniversary is coming up shortly. The Government has instructed the Irrigation department to call this project henceforth as R Vidyasagar Rao Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme.
The “Vidyasagar Rao had highlighted the injustices done to Telangana in the irrigation sector. He had communicated to the people in simple language the discrimination and injustices done to Telangana region in irrigation sector and created awareness among the people on several complicated issues. He had played a key role in the Telangana separate statehood movement. Late Vidyasagar Rao had created a wider debate on the irrigation issues. His life’s ambition was to provide safe drinking water to the fluoride affected Nalgonda district and provide water to the arid lands in the Telangana region. We are making rapid strides in the irrigation sector in tune with the dreams of Vidyasagar Rao. It is befitting that the Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme in his native Nalgonda district is named after him,” the CM opined.
The Vidyasagar Rao during his last moments of life when he was seriously ill had expressed a desire that Arvapalli Laxmi Narasimha Temple in his native Suryapet district should be developed. The CM immediately responded then and sanctioned Rs one crore for the renovation of the temple.
