The National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) Hyderabad is conducting four-day Training-cum-Workshop on “New Strategies in Rural Development and Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals” for the Hon’ble MLAs/MLCs, from May 8 to 11, 2018.
The programme is being attended by 55 Hon’ble MLAs/MLCs from 14 States of the Country i.e. Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
The inauguration of the Training-cum-Workshop was presided over by Sirikonda Madhusudana Chary, Honourable Speaker, Telangana Legislative Assembly in the presence of Radhika Rastogi, IAS, Deputy Director General, and Dr. Franklin Laltinkhuma, Registrar & Director (Admn) NIRD&PR, Hyderabad.
The DDG, NIRD&PR in her Welcome address emphasised on the mandate of NIRD&PR, which is to conduct several training and workshop programmes every year for various segments of Government towards strengthening policies for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. The Training-cum-Workshop is intended to support the members of the Legislatures of the country with knowledge sharing/thinking on issues of development, rural economy, local governance, and issues of women’s development with focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme would be very beneficial for the Hon’ble MLAs/MLCs to develop their respective constituencies as Model Constituencies.
The Chief Guest of the programme, Sirikonda Madhusudana Chary, Hon’ble Speaker, Telangana Legislative Assembly began his address by emphasising that the Country’s progress is dependent on the progress of the villages and commended NIRD&PR on its crucial role in this regard. He elaborated on the ongoing initiative that has been undertaken in his constituency i.e ‘Palle Pragati Nidra’. He also highlighted the success of ‘Mission Kakatiya’ in Telangana.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks to Hon’ble Chief Guest and Hon’ble MLAs/MLCs and other dignitaries.
