Hyderabad: Speaking on the occasion of release of the book titled Mangalapuram Tales written by Smt. Vimala Anandaram, wife of former DGP S. Anandaram, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said story telling is about narrating imagination and not about facts. He said author of the book Vimala Anandaram excelled at the art of story telling. Governor said Vimala Anandaram was an extremely talented author and a great Carnatic music devotee and humanity personified.He said some of the stories appear to flow from the author’s reallife situations. Governor also said that penmanship is in her genes as she happens to be the niece of another eminent storyteller, R.K. Narayan and the great political cartoonist R.K. Laxman. Governor Narasimhan said that Smt. Vimala Anandaram’s story telling capabilities are excellent and that in every story a message is conveyed. Governor said that the book is very readable and particularly appealing to the youngsters.
Recalling his association with the family of S. Anandaram and Smt. Anandaram, the Governor said as an IPS Probationer, way back 50 years ago, he first met Anandaram at NPA at Mt. Abu and later as ASP Nandyalwhen Anandaram was DIG Kurnool. Governor said the book is written by Vimala Anandram, Foreword by Vimala Narasimhan and released by Narasimhan.
Governor described V.K. Rao, the 108 year old ICS officer of 1937 batch, who also attended the book release function and Anandaram, former DGP as BhishmaPithamahas of the Civil Services. R. Prabhakar, former DGP and Anjani Kumar, Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police, also attended the programme.
