The Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiyam Srihari and Minister for IT, Industries & Commerce, MA&UD presented Telangana Excellence Awards (TEXA) for the year 2017 and 2018 at Dr MCRHRD Institute of Telangana on 21st May, 2018. Telangana Government has instituted the Awards in 2017 to recognize exemplary public service rendered by Civil Servants who do not belong to the uniformed services. They are presented to Individuals, Groups and Organisations under General, Innovation and Flagship Programme categories.
A total of Twenty Five Awards were presented for the year 2017 (12) and 2018 (13), while two senior civil servants were selected by a designated search committee for their outstanding work in the field of public administration.
For the year 2017, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Kalyana Lakshmi / Shaadi Mubarak, Arogya Lakshmi, Haritha Haaram were included under the Flagship Programme Category while Girl child education, nutrition, IT initiative in Governance, KCR Kit, Land record updation, Solid Waste disposal Sheep distribution were chosen for the TEXA 2018.
A three-stage rigorous evaluation process – desk evaluation, field verification and presentation to the TEXA Committee – was prescribed for the nomination of Civil Servants for the Award.BP Acharya, Special Chief Secretary and Director General, Dr MCRHRDI was the Chairman for the TEXA-2017 Committee while Sri Suresh Chandra, Special Chief Secretary and Member Secretary Telangana State Finance Commission was the Chairman for TEXA-2018 Committee.
The Chief Secretary, Telangana Government SK Joshi presided over the ceremony. Kadiyam Srihari was the Chief Guest while KT Rama Rao was the Guest of Honour for the gala event. BP Acharya and Suresh Chandra were the Special Invitees to the event while Principal Secretary GA (GPM&AR) Department Shalini Mishra hosted the event. Senior bureaucrats – retired and serving – of Government of India and Government of Telangana, apart from the Awardees graced the occasion. Foundation Course for the first batch of Telangana Group – I officers was also inaugurated at the ceremony.
