Hyderabad: The Telangana state police is launching criminal proceedings against those who had killed two persons after rumors on the social media of an inter-state gang of kidnappers on the prowl to lift children.
The Dy. Commissioner of Police, South Zone V. Satyanarayana said on Saturday that no inter-state gang is active in the state. He said that the messages circulated in the social media were rumors, and requested the citizens not to take the law in their own hands and attack the innocent people. The Dy.Commissioner of Police expressed concern over the assassination of two people in the separate incidents in Bhimgam Nagar of Nizamabad and in Bibinagar of Yadadri district.
That In both cases, the victims were innocent and were not related to any gang. When they were caught by local people and asked, they could not give satisfactory answers and were slay, he said there was no report of the gang being active in the state; if there were gangs then the police was able to catch them, Many CCTV Cameras Installed to monitor the incidents said DCP.
The Dy. Commissioner of Police, South Zone also warned of strong action against those who spread rumors through social media and those who pursue such rumors through Whatsapp and Facebook. The Dy. Commissioner of Police, South Zone requested the citizens to inform the police on dial -100 if they got any doubt or found anyone suspicious.
In order to build trust among the people, the police have asked their Police personnel to patrol in remote areas, CCTV Cameras were monitoring from the Command and Control. The police also asked the field level officers to keep mentally and physically handicapped persons and beggars in villages or divisions and shift them to safety and security.
