The Minister for Industries and Commerce, IT, MA&UD and NRI Affairs KT Rama Rao released I&C Department’s Annual Report 2018 at The Park Hotel today. In Telangana’s fourth year of formation, KT Rama Rao released the Department’s performance report – its initiatives and achievements –following the State formation Day celebrations on 2nd June.
The MoUs were exchanged with National Productivity Council, Quality Council of India and Central Institute of Tool Design at Balanagar. These MoUs will help in spreading awareness about Lean manufacturing practices, smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, ZED scheme and skill development among local manufacturing units.
The Minister also launched the CSR Portal to mobilize resources for the development of people, community, and the environment. The portal will attract, mobilize and incentivize financial investments into inclusive and sustainable development projects identified by various government departments from local, national and international organizations.
This was followed by launch of the Industries & Commerce Department Annual Report and Newsletter. Industry Awards 2018 were distributed for Large, Medium, Small and Micro Industries based on their performance in the previous year under Financial, CSR, Innovation and best employee practices categories.
On the occasion, Minister for Industries KT Rama Rao proudly informed that, “Telangana has achieved a 10.4% y-o-y growth in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), compared to a national average of 6.6% y-o-y growth in 2017-18 and the share of Telangana’s economy in National GDP has increased 9 basis points in 2017-18.” He added that “Telangana has ranked first in Ease of Doing Business and TS-iPass has contributed significantly to the same.”
The Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary I&C Department said, “We have made significant progress this year in terms of investments attracted and development of new industrial parks and clusters. With the launch of the CSR portal we now hope to tackle the most pressing problems of our state. ‘Telangana Social Impact Group’ – T- SIG is an initiative of the Telangana Government to build an inclusive ecosystem of government bodies, private sector companies, social impact organizations and citizens of Telangana, with a shared goal of mobilizing resources for the development of people, community, and the environment.”
ANNUAL REPORT IN BRIEF
● Telangana has ranked first in Ease of Doing Business.
● Started in June 2015, TS-iPass has attracted total investment of Rs.1,23,478 Cr., of which 47% was contributed in the last financial year.
● TSIICdeveloped 148 industrial parks with core infrastructure during FY 2017-18 and allotted land of 195.25 acres to 460 industries
● Genome Valley, the largest innovation and life sciences cluster in Asia was accorded with Industrial Area Local Authority(IALA) status. Government also has announced Genome Valley 2.0 giving impetus to overall ecosystem.
● Launch of Chenetha Mithra scheme, envisaging 40% subsidy on material required by the weavers. A budget of Rs.100 Cr. allocated.
● The Mining Sector contributed Rs.3704.38 crores against a target of Rs. 3500 crores
● The Government mandated all Govt. engineering Depts. to use 50% M-Sand in all works. M-sand reduces the negative impact of sand mining on rivers and protects groundwater
● TSMDC started own website called “Sand Sales Monitoring and Management System”(SSMS) for registration vehicles,online booking of sand , tracking of orders etc.
● Ministry of Civil Aviation awarded Telangana as the “Best State with Most Progressive Outlook towards Aerospace sector” at the Wings India
● Tata Boeing Aerospace (TBAL) inaugurated its state-of-the-art facility in Hyderabad.The facility will be sole global producer of fuselages of for AH-64 Apache Helicopter
● Proposal for establishment of Trade Fair Complex in Warangal, 30 acres of land has been identified
● Tata, Lockheed Martin to open metal to metal bonding facility of 4000 sq. meters at Adibatla. This facility will be India’s first of its kind metal to metal bonding facility
● In Food Processing sector, Capital investments of approx. 2000 Cr. and employment generation of more than 22,000 personnel in FY 17-18
● Dedicated food processing policy to promote investments in food processing which generated an investment of more than Rs.7500 crores
● Container Freight Station is established at cost of Rs.13.00 Cr. in area of 7.1 Acres. To be operationalized by selecting and O&M operator through open tender process in the coming months
● Proposal for establishment of Trade Fair Complex in Warangal, 30 acres of land has been identified
● The Government signed an MoU with NASSCOM to establish a Centre of Excellence for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CoE – DS&AI) in the state.
● TSRTC placed an order for 40 electric buses to be deployed across various routes in GHMC limits,as a part of GOI’s Electric Vehicle pilot project.
● IKEAto open first its first Indian store in HITECH City, Hyderabad 2018

● RICH is fully on course to help create ten unicorns, which will improve societal well-being and generate employment and create wealth, such as Augmented Reality,Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Data Science, Machine learning, IoT, Blockchain, Additive Manufacturing

● We-Hub was launched on March 8th, 2018 to aid in incubation of women entrepreneurship in the state
