Hyderabad: The State Archives is going to match with the other advanced archives in the world with the state government of Telangana has decided to fund it for the digitization, up gradation and preservation of the rare and historic documents which run in millions.
The Kadiyam Srihari, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Education department said while inaugurating the two-day 62nd session of the Indian Historical Record Committee at Dr MCR HRD Institute Hyderabad, He was amazed saying that the state archives is one of the best top ten archives in the world having 50 millions of documents and assured that the government will take up the measures to uplift and conserve archival records with the expenditure borne by the state government. He said that as the Hyderabad has become a hub of IT development and attracted the world a lot, if archives lag behind in catching up the trend making use of IT TO ITS BEST, then we can’t claim it to be number one. He assured that within a year all the documents of the Archives will be digitized. Which is very crucial step in order to safeguard the history for future generations?
The Raghavendra Singh, Secretary, Ministry of culture, New Delhi said that the country possesses millions of manuscripts which can give fresh life to the narrative of history if are preserved well. The Pritam Singh IAS, Director General, National Archives of India presented a development report of archives. The A.Murali, IAS, Director General of State Archives delivered welcome address. He said that the session is being organized here after the gap of 64 years .earlier it was held in 1954 when this office used to be known as Central Record Office.
Later the Deputy Chief Minister and Raghavendra Singh ,Secretary ,Ministry of Culture released publication “the Moghul Catalogue”- volume Vl and latest issue of Archival journal “Itihaas” respectively and also inaugurated a document . The senior scholars, historian, academicians and archivists from different Archives, and Universities from all over India attended the function
The A.K.Goel, IAS (Retd) Advisor to government of Telangana B.P .Acharya, IAS, Director General & Spl Chief Secretary to government, Dr. MCR HRD Institute also spoke. Dr. Zareena Parveen, Director, State Archives presented vote of thanks.
The exhibition for rare and historical documents was open for general public till the evening of Thursday the next.
