The Minister KT Rama Rao spent his Saturday afternoon (August 4, 2018) at ‘HeARTabled’, an Art Exhibition by Shaikh Nafees Begum, at ICCR Art Gallery, Ravindra Bharathi. Nafees Begum is a young artist suffering from Muscular Dystrophy and is totally bedridden.
The Nafees has taken to painting as a pastime but has been showing a remarkable talent in this area. Sitting in her wheel chair, she has been exhibiting her unique talent for the past several years. Nafees is enthusiastic about painting landscapes and portraits of famous personalities.
The Nafees’s wish to meet Minister KT Rama Rao was conveyed to his office and Minister readily agreed to meet her. Today, he personally visited the art exhibition and spoke to Nafees about her paintings.
The Minister appreciated Nafees for her artwork and called her one of the finest artists he has come across. Minister said Nafees will stand as an inspiration for a lot of youngsters. He assured her of complete medical assistance and asked officials to provide artists’ pension.
The Minister also directed HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy to display some of Nafees’s paintings at the Metro Stations in Hyderabad.
