The National Workshop on Tsunami SOP at INCOIS held Today- 10 August 2018, in preparation for the IOWave18 Tsunami Mock Exercise scheduled on 4 & 5 September 2018, the National workshop on Tsunami Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was held today, 10 August 2018 at INCOIS, Hyderabad. The workshop focused on familiarization of the Disaster Management Officials of Coastal States/UTs with the tsunami bulletins issued by INCOIS, improving their tsunami preparedness and SOPs and briefing about the upcoming mock tsunami exercise. Participants included 75 members from Disaster Management Offices (DMOs) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal; NDMA, NDRF, Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Army, Ports & Harbour officials.
The workshop included presentations and feedback sessions along with a special Tabletop exercise during which participants simulated their responses which were timed.
