The Legal Metrology Department is making arrangements in petrol & diesel quality and quantity checking at petrol bunks to be more transparent. New 5 ltrs standard glass jar is implemented which allows consumers, petrol bunk owners and officials to have clear view of the oil. Implementation of 5 ltrs standard glass jar is to make more transparent and accountability in quality and quantity checking.
The 5 ltrs metal measures were used to verify or calibrate the volume of fuel at retail outlets. Metal measures are non-transparent, always raising the doubt of the accuracy of the measure. Metal measures can be easily tampered. Metal used for measures are prone to dimensional changes with change in temperature.
This standard glass jar made from USP Type 1 Class-A will be give 100% accurate quantity, with no chance of tampering.
The Controller for Legal Metrology Department Akun Sabharwal inspected this New Fabricated 5 ltrs jar in a meeting with Greater Hyderabad Petrol and Diesel Dealers Association, HPCL, BPCL Oil Companies representatives, held on Monday at Civil Supplies Bhavan. The Controller said that dealers themselves should get these glass jars, after compulsorily getting clearance certificate from Legal Metrology Department.
The Telangana Petrol, Diesel Association President Rajeev Amaram, Greater Hyderabad Chief Secretary Amarender Reddy, HPCL DGM (Retail) Rajesh, Manager T. Shravan attended the meeting.
