Shahjahanpur: The 27-year-old rape survivor set herself and her 12-year-old son on fire after Uttar Pradesh Police allegedly refused to register a gang rape-case against three persons. The gang-rape survivor was admitted to a hospital in Shahjahanpur with 95 percent burned injuries and died on Friday morning. The son of a woman, who burned about 15 percent, is stable.
The deceased woman in a dying declaration has alleged that the police refused to register the gang-rape complaint. She also said that the same accused persons returned on August 18 and gang raped her again.
The deceased woman’s husband Ramvir told the police that she was not at home when she set herself on fire. The couple was allegedly trying to register a case of rape against three persons of the village at the local police station for more than a month. The husband alleged that the police had refused to register the first information report (FIR). The husband alleged that the police have understanding with the accused persons and the police are pressurizing to take money from the accused and get compromise.
The official managed to record his dying declaration. The deceased woman’s husband has now lodged an FIR and one accused persons has been named. The police chief also said that the police officer in charge of the station and two sub-inspectors have been charged because they knew about this case but did not act on the crime.
According to the reports, the deceased woman was first gang-raped by three men from the same village about six months ago. The rapists threatened the woman to kill her child, if she told anybody. Eventually, the woman had told her husband a month ago, after which the couple went to the police, the police refused to register the case. On August 18, the woman was allegedly attacked and raped, and the police still refused to register the case.
