Hyderabad: Addressing the officials of Lanka Parliament, visiting Telangana on a training programme organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST), on Wednesday at Raj Bhavan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana E.S.L. Narasimhan said Parliament of any country is the bedrock of democracy and that is where democracy is born and that is where democracy is kept alive. He said officials of Parliament are the backbone of the legislative body and they are ones who keep the House going.
The Governor said in a democracy the role of Parliament always reigns supreme because it represents the will of the people. He said healthy tradition of debate, discuss and decide should continue and nothing should be kept to God or will. He said healthy Parliamentary debate is central for a democratic set up and people will be convinced by healthy debates in Parliament only. The Governor said he visited all over Sri Lanka several times and holds the country in great respect.
The delegation of officials of Sri Lanka Parliament led by Mrs. Liyanage Ramani Jayawardana, Director (Administration) thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to them to visit Raj Bhavan and interact with the Governor. Pulin B. Bhutia, Director of Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST) and Dr. V. Narasimhacharyulu, Secretary of Telangana State Legislature, also attended the programme.
