The Telangana State Information Commission today organised Right to Information Day Celebrations-2018 at its Office in Samachara Hakku Bhavan, M.J.Market, Hyderabad. The Right to Information Act came into force on 12th October 2005. The Right to Information Act has been in force for 13 years.
Dr. Rajasadaram Soma, Chief Information Commissioner, Telangana State Information Commission presided over the meeting ON RIGHT TO INFORMATION DAY CELEBRATIONS-2018. Shri Shailendra Kumar Joshi, I.A.S, Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Rajeshwar Tiwari, I.A.S, Special Chief Secretary to Government, Government of Telangana, Ajay Misra,I.A.S, Special Chief Secretary to Government, Government of Telangana and Adhar Sinha, I.A.S.,Principal Secretary to Government (Poll), Government of Telangana graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
State Information Commissioner Buddha Murali attended the celebrations.
RTI activists, representatives of Civil Society Organisations, Public Information Officers, First Appellate Officers and other officers attended the celebrations.
Dr. Rajasadaram Soma, Chief Information Commissioner, Telangana State Information Commission welcomed the dignitaries and thanked the dignitaries and the FAAs, PIOs and representatives of the Civil Society Organisations for attending the celebrations.
In his presidential address the CIC stated that RTI act helped lot of people in getting redressal of their grievances. With the support of CSOS, FAAS, PIOS RTI ACT became a success. Govt took number of measures for the successful implementation of RTI ACT.
Interest of public in the RTI act and for this the credit goes to PAS, PIOS and NGOS who are working for the cause of RTI.
The State Information Commissioner Buddha Murali stated that after commencement of the TSIC this is the first meeting. CS is taking keen interest in RTI ACT. RTI should go to the deeper level.
The Shailendra Kumar Joshi, I.A.S, Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana stated that RTI ACT is a game changer. Earlier for getting information public representatives were the only way to get the information. RTI changed all this and brought accountability and transparency in the governance.
